Well, the moment we have all been waiting for has finally come. On September 16, 2016 Mean Streak will close forever to the public. For 25 years, this rough and tumble attraction has given millions of rides to people and was a record breaker for height and speed on a wood coaster when it originally opened.
Not much information was given as to the fate of the ride, but the catchphrase used was "Mean Streak is getting the axe." So what is going to happen to the painful, iconic ride? Possibly a retrack, or demolition, or even RMC at this point. There have been some teasers, but no real credible information.
Whatever the case, something drastic is happening, and MS is going to be coming down soon. Normally, I would say rush out to Cedar Point to get your final rides, but with this is the pain and expense really necessary? For 2017, Soak City may be getting an expansion, and this project may be pushed down to 2018.
