Wonder Woman is TESTING!!!
SFFT Source has not only posted this awesome construction site tour, but also was able to capture Wonder Woman's first testing footage. I must say that in all my years of covering and following the amusement industry, I have never seen a coaster train fly so fast through initial test runs.
Normally, parks have to worry about coasters stalling or not moving fast enough through those first cycles, but that does not even remotely seem like an issue for this attraction. The coaster is hauling through the course so quickly, that trim brakes may even become in the picture elsewhere besides the first drop.
We can only hope that this is a sign that Wonder Woman is right on track to open soon, but there is still some work to go. It looks as though the lift device is either not completely in place yet, or needs tweaking, and there are 2 more trains to install, and operations procedures to create. From my sources, weighted or water dummy test cycles have not begun yet. So progress is being made, but I wouldn't call the grand opening imminent either. Expect a few more weeks to a month or so.
Dark Ride Update
The name for the refreshed Scooby Doo dark ride has been released.... and it will be Pirates of the Deep Sea. Scooby Doo's ride layout will remain intact, but the vehicles will be re-themed to boats, and the laser guns will now be "pirate blasters". This should give the ride system a more modern feel, with more traditional effects than the previous black light ones. SFFT expects the ride to be up and running around Memorial Day weekend.
