As speculated, Soak City would be getting a major upgrade for 2017. However, the name of the water park will also be changing. Soak City will turn into Cedar Point Shores Water Park.
To commemorate the new water park, a new complex will be featured. This is a clone of the one going into Knott's Soak City (see below), and will feature 4 drop pod slides, as well as 2 dueling inner tube slides. Point Plummet will be the name for the pod slides, and the dueling slides will be named Starboard Surge & Portside Plunge.
As well as the complex, a new children's area will replace a dilapidated one. Lakeside Landing features 12 slides for children, splash pad features, and a zero depth entry pool. This should be a lot cleaner and more modern than the existing one.
While not a huge expansion as of yet, this project has potential to grow as the years go on.
Also, a new poolside bar, cabana upgrades, more lounging areas, new changing stations, and the all new Crystal Rock Café will provide some much needed amenities for guests visiting the water park.
Reason: It's not a big deal yet, but sets the water park up for some aggressive expansion in the future, but also gives it some TLC for right now.
